The problem with most beauty advice
Here's the thing about the beauty content we're all reading: most of it isn't written for people who have to be somewhere by 8:30.
It's written for people with time. People with studio lighting. People whose biggest daily decision is whether to film a GRWM or a "get unready with me."
Meanwhile, the rest of us are trying to make one face last from the train platform to the conference room to happy hour, all while Chicago weather actively works against us.
So I started paying attention differently. Not to what looks good in a ring light. To what looks good at 4 P.M. under office fluorescents. To what survives a walk to the L. To what doesn't oxidize into a different color by lunch.
What this blog actually is
Desk Face Daily is a beauty blog for working women. That's not a subgenre. That's the whole point.
I test products the way you actually use them: on weekdays, under pressure, with a commute, and with exactly 15 minutes to get it done.
I write about ingredients the way I'd explain them to a coworker in the breakroom — not like I'm teaching a chemistry class.
I tell you when something is fine but unnecessary, because I've bought enough fine-but-unnecessary products to know that the prettiest packaging doesn't fix a bad formula.
What this blog is not
It's not a place where every launch is "revolutionary" and every product is "obsessed."
It's not a 47-step routine that requires four different tools and a second mortgage.
It's not written by someone who gets paid to say nice things about brands.
If a product works, I'll say so. If it doesn't, I'll tell you that too. And if it works in a studio but falls apart on a real face in real weather, I will absolutely take a picture of it.
